Nature-Based Outdoor Sessions

Macedon Ranges – Seated or Walking in Nature

Nature has always been a grounding presence in my life—I grew up spending my weekends walking through the Dandenong Ranges with my family—moments that created connection, but also served as early lessons in how nature helps regulate the nervous system and bring clarity. That deep connection continues today through hiking, sitting under trees, or simply watching the sunset from the deck. These sessions invite you into that same relationship with the natural world.

Held outdoors in the Macedon Ranges, we may sit outside overlooking Hanging Rock or walk through nearby bushland. This approach draws on Ecotherapy, recognising the deep healing available through connection to land, movement, and presence. Inspired by Japanese forest bathing (Shinrin-yoku), we slow down, regulate, and reconnect.

Who is Nature-Based Therapy For?

Nature-based therapy is ideal for those who feel more at ease in outdoor settings or are drawn to a more embodied, intuitive form of healing. It can be especially supportive for:

  • Anxiety, stress, and overwhelm – Calming sensory input and gentle movement help regulate the nervous system

  • Burnout and depression – Nature’s rhythms can restore energy, balance, and a sense of hope

  • Grief and loss – The natural environment offers quiet support and space to be held by something greater than ourselves and for reflection

  • Feeling stuck or disconnected – A shift in setting often invites new perspectives and emotional flow

  • Life transitions or identity exploration – Nature reflects cycles of change, growth, and becoming

  • Highly sensitive individuals – Outdoor therapy offers a softer, less stimulating environment

  • Somatic and body-based healing – Being in nature deepens connection to the body and present moment

It’s also well-suited to anyone longing for a deeper connection with themselves, their body, and the natural world.

Nature-based therapy offers:

  • A relaxed, informal setting

  • Sensory grounding and nervous system support

  • Insight from spontaneous elements like animals or weather

  • A deeper sense of connection—within and beyond

Even outside, we can still engage in therapeutic modalities such as:

  • IFS (Parts Work) – Exploring your internal system

  • Somatic Practices – Working with breath and body awareness

  • Meditation & Visualisation – Rooting your attention in the present through nature-based mindfulness

  • Movement, Art & Drawing – Creating in or with the landscape

These sessions invite a remembering—of your place in the natural world, your relationship with the earth—and to let nature support your healing.

“Nature is the only place where we will be seen for the beauty of which we could be, rather than the trauma for which we’ve lived.”

Walk and Talk Therapy

Therapy in Motion

Walk and Talk Therapy blends the benefits of movement with the depth of conversation. Walking in the Macedon Ranges, we engage in therapy side by side, supported by rhythm, nature, and fresh air.

This style can feel more grounding and less confronting than sitting indoors—perfect for those who feel stuck, overstimulated, or prefer a more embodied experience.

Walk and Talk may help:

  • Ease anxiety or overwhelm

  • Support emotional regulation through movement

  • Spark new insight and clarity

We may pause to breathe, reflect, or take in the landscape, letting the environment itself become part of the process. Whether you're navigating stress, grief, or life changes, this is a gentle yet powerful path forward—one mindful step at a time.
